Philosophical: Another Milestone reached

The time is nigh.... Tomorrow I will be a different person from today, because of one mere event: graduation !!! I finished my last ever assignment around May, since then I have waited for this day to come. What now?! Uni life is now over; real life has started. Where do I start? Where do I go? A     w            h            i             r            l        w        i            n                                d         of questions..             but no answers. This is it, I'm a lone wolf, cast out into a world where danger lurks at every turn. I've chosen a career that is competitive and difficult; I'm stuck at a cross-road: will I be the Alpha or the Beta? Will I get the juicy first pickings or will I be eating the unwanted scraps, forever? Who knows.... tomorrow will be "...the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. " (Revelation 22:13) The time has come for me to do something with myself, make

Q and A for those literary viewers

Hello, So, I have one question: What do you look for in a poet? The question came to my mind as I sat here with my self-made Vanilla Latte Machiato (don't judge me); as I went through some of the groups I follow and I read a few poems submitted by hopeful poets such as myself, I thought to myself I'm reading your poem and I appreciate the hard work and effort that has gone into it, but there's something I don't like about it... This happens to all of us, because we all have our preferences, obviously. It doesn't diminish the poets poem but it definitely doesn't bring in those views either. So I thought to myself, what is it that I look in a poem? A few that came to mind was: 1) A specific theme / story-like. If a poem just comprises of a poets rant about something and calls it free verse, unless it is witty, then you have lost  me. 2) rhyme & rhythm. I love poems that are carefully put together; well thought of, and my favourites tend to

Travels

As promised I will give a brief overview on my travels and experience since being in Germany. At first it was mainly walking around the city of Dortmund - I believe I still have barely seen even half of this city as of yet... and going out to many bars, mostly the student ones though. With the help of the Kultur programme that I was in, I fell in love with Cologne or Köln (I prefer to say) the day was freezing but...the Dom was beautiful on the outside and inside. I strongly recommend seeing this cathedral - religious or not - if you're ever nearby. Oh, and also the chocolate museum! ;) Due to only having a limited time, that was the museum I visited however, there are plenty others and all are very close to each other, as well as different. Like I said, I fell in love with the place, especially the Dom, so when a couple of friends (also exchange students) arranged to go there, it comes at no surprise that I would use this opportunity to go again...and take many more pictures...

Myself and this...

Firstly, I will begin with this video:  'Look up' by Gary Turk It's about social networking and its effects it has upon us in the long-term, such as loneliness and missing out on life opportunities. The poetry performed in this made it especially powerful and moving for me - and the story he told - really affected me! See what you guys think. I personally think this is true, but then again, I don't think some of us are all that bad. For example, I am aware when I'm around friends that I shouldn't really text or glue my face to my phone when I'm socialising with them, EVEN if they are.. However, some people may also sometimes go on their phone scrolling through sometimes even nothing, just staring at the screen to pretend they didn't see someone...I think we've all done this aha so there are positives and negatives in technology. But again, I completely support this video, so it's mainly negative. What are your views on this? About myself, hmm.

And so it begins...

Hello, To begin, my name is Stephanierose Albach and I'm an aspiring writer so it only makes sense that I finally open a blog. Hopefully soon I will attract quite a few of you bloggers out there in the hope that you will enjoy my entries about myself and my travels (as I am currently an exchange student and would love to share my experience with you), as well as allow you to experience what kind of person I am through my poetry. I hope you will enjoy this as much as I will. Feel free to find me on: Deviantart: http://steph11e.deviantart.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/Stephiie_rose
